2027 Lunar New Year Festival
Returns to the Ent Center for the Arts at UCCS Colorado Springs, CO
The Colorado Springs Chinese Cultural Institute will ring in the 2027 Lunar
New Year Festival, the Year of the Goat, at the Ent Center for the Arts at UCCS, 5225 N. Nevada
Avenue.
The Chinese New Year Festival will run from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday, February
20, 2027.
The festival's highlight is two ticketed cultural performances at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm.
There will also be free martial arts presentations at 12:30 pm and 3 pm.
The 2027 Lunar New Year Festival continues in it’s 28 th year as a popular cultural event in
Colorado Springs with the traditional lion dance, Asian Aerial Acrobats, Taiko drummers, Asian
ribbon & fan dances, unique Chinese musical instrument performances, the Dragon Dance, an
Asian contortionist, and more.
Visitors are welcome to browse and shop in the “Chinatown” of merchants, offering a variety of
items including goat toys, Asian jewelry, artwork, clothing, and more. The “Tea House” will offer
free samples and demonstrations of authentic Chinese tea. Children can create their own Asian
Art in the Kid Zone. Visitors can spin their pottery design in the Asian Pottery Studio. Asian food
truck vendors will be curbside offering authentic food for the festival.
The official Lunar New Year Festival is based on the lunar calendar. The origin of the New Year
occurred before the advent of written language; hence, it is an oral tradition with many myths.
Over the years, it has remained one of the few major festivals throughout Asia. The Year of the
Fire Goat covers those born in 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, and 2027. Persons
born in the Year of the Fire Goat will have a nurturing, creative and calm energy as compared to
the previous year. The Goat has artistic energy, harmony, and traditional ideas about luck.
Famous Goats are Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Nicole Kidman, Mick Jagger, Ed Sheeran, Whoopi
Goldberg and Will Ferrell.
Tickets will be available in December at EntCenterfortheArts.org. Admission for the 2027 Lunar
New Year Festival is $19 for adults, $15 for students, military (active duty and retired), seniors
(age 65+), UCCS faculty, and children (5+). Children under 5 are free. Parking is free of charge.
